The roles of images in business success
In the online world, our strategy and plans regarding the success of our business, whether service- or product-based, need to adapt well with speed while still maintaining our business’s core values, beliefs and mission. Because of the speed of the world we are living in right now, it is vital to communicate effectively.
Effective communication relies heavily on the words we write and the images we show.
Effective communication means two things:
Firstly, it aligns your services or products and your business's core values. Your message on social media, blog posts, or websites aligns with your business values, beliefs, and mission. You communicate what problems you solve, what you sell, the advantages of buying from you, etc., and how it matches your business’s core.
Secondly, it must include images that resonate with what you write about. The words describe to your customers, so they understand about your product or your services while the images sets the emotion to it.
It is said in marketing studies that images stay longer and faster in one’s mind.
Let me explain more.
Words are there to explain to your audience so their mind can digest the information. For example, for a service-based business, you describe one or two advantages of your coaching method. You explain the symptoms, the solution you provide, and the advantages of your coaching program in the short and long term. For product-based business, your words explain about the product, the description of sizes, what it is made of, etc.
Images set the emotion to your information and more information from the description. Your audience will assess your services or products even more deeply. It build connection to them. Let’s imagine your audience. She was browsing social media and the internet on Sunday afternoon through her mobile phone and stumbled upon your services. How do you think she would feel connected with you? don’t you think a resonating image would do that?
Images do two things: they could be the main reason they read your message, your information about your services, or your words through the images, which stay longer in their memory and help them decide. I bet you have experienced that. You remember something, or connecting with something through not only words but also the images. Sometimes, the image makes people click the link.
If you are an effective communicator, don’t you want to ensure that your messages are clear and you have the right images that resonate with them? Images that show you as the founder and your business aesthetic, story and the core of your values, beliefs and mission. Or do you prefer to use random stock images that don’t resemble your business?
The impactful images must be strategically crafted between the brand photographer and you, the business founder. It must adapt to your business needs. And it is not only one or three images; you need more than that. Why? because one communication is not enough. You need to communicate consistently with a consistent message and image tone.
Having library of images not only communicate your business effectively, it changes things for you too (in a positive way!). Because now, these images would even inspire you to share more about your business. You are proud of it. You have plenty of images that resonate with your business you can use in the coming days, weeks and months.
Now, that’s not only saving time but also a great strategy for a business owner.
I’ve seen a lot of service-based businesses: coaches, founders, and creatives who sell their expertise and products but undermine the power of their own images (and this is not necessarily always showing your face if you are shy. It can be done differently. But they are still yours!) where it resonates more to their audience. At the same time, it can also help the business look more professional and stand out.
I hope you show your expertise and do not undermine the potential to connect with your audience through images.
