You think it is normal. I think it is your superpower.
You think it is normal because you live with what you were born with daily. Whatever you do, you feel it is so natural you don’t see anything extraordinary. Combine that with any skills you earned through experiences, from work, life, practice, or anything else. It becomes your unique you. You think it is normal. And I think that combination is your superpower.
Here is what I meant, and let’s see if you agree with me. But a little of a backstory.
I have been an observer for a long time. I worked in the corporate world of Human resources for quite a while and lived and worked in 5 different countries for a decade. When I lived in foreign countries, I observed a lot. It is one of the survival kits. Survival kits for adapting and starting over. New surroundings, new cultures and values, a lot of impressions.
The hundreds of people I worked with and the different kinds of people I encountered. During that time, I found photography, too. I observed even more things surrounding me. Impressions of facial expression, body posture, confidence, how one communicates and sensing different energy in people.
One striking thing I noticed when I met people was that most didn’t even realise their strengths and attractiveness. Or they know it but are not keen to show it more.
Instead, they try to balance and make their strengths look slightly round. They don’t want to look so different. It is good to learn this social skill, presenting yourself in a way you love to see yourself and wanting to look like people you admire. But sometimes, we do it too much. And there are others who are themselves authentic but rarely show it up. It would be good if she were to show up as an example to others. Interesting, isn’t it? we try our best not to stand out. It is a pity because I would love to meet this person. Won’t you, too?
Meeting a person where their characters match their lives, so their stories can only be told by them. It was unfortunate to witness many people trying to be somebody else. Either trying to use a story that is not theirs or trying to be somebody else in their own story.
I am now slowly embracing my superpowers. One of them is to see the potential in people. I practised it well through my past profession, travels, and my current role as a photographer.
How you talk and express yourself, what interests you and what does not, your beliefs, your curiosity, and how your journey has shaped who you are. No one is the same. How can it be? it is just strange if everyone is the same. So please show up and tell us about yourself a little more often, your opinion, and what excites you. What’s natural to you, your experience and that thing that lights you up, that’s your superpower.
Are you aware of yours? And if so, do you show up with your superpower(s) often?
